Quico Touw is the founder and director of Cinetol, an Amsterdam music venue, and co-founder of Amsterdam Alternative. A passionate advocate for the survival of the grassroots edge of the live music scene, he believes small venues are the incubators of the music ecosystem: places for experiment and talent development, where the city's different communities — niches, minorities, and subcultures alike — each can create a stage of their own. Quico is currently co-setting up DIVE: DIY Venues for emerging artists Europe. A new collaborative network connecting grassroots venues across the continent, helping emerging artists turn isolated one-off shows into feasible European tours while reducing the costs and risks of international touring for venues and artists alike.
